Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve noticed something on common property that needs repairing, what should I do?

Contact the Building Manager by phone or email with a description of the issue - go the Contacts page, or use the buttons at the top of the Living page. Attaching a photograph or two can be helpful too. Please note the Facebook page is for community interaction and not to officially report faults.

Can I help with the gardening?

Yes, we’d love you to join us! Please get in touch via the Facebook page (click the button at the top of the Living page), or alternatively get in touch with the relevant Strata Committee member.

Can I put a ‘no junk mail’ sign on my letterbox?

Yes, you can.

How do I dispose of large inorganic items and other rubbish?

See the section in the Rochford Welcome & Information Guide on ‘Rubbish & Recycling', available on the Living page.

Can I let a room in my apartment, or my whole apartment through AirBnB, Stayz, etc?

Yes, you can, but for a minimum term of three (3) months. Shorter term stays are not permitted in the Rochford and our community feels strongly about policing this rule. See the by-laws, in particular by-law 37: Development Consent D/2014/1609.

Can I run a small business from my apartment?

No. This is not permitted in the Rochford strata scheme, and may impact on our insurances. See further by-law 37: Development Consent D/2014/1609.

What happens if I breach a by-law? Can I be fined?

All owners and occupiers in a strata scheme, including tenants, are legally obliged to comply with the by-laws of the scheme.

If a notice to comply has been issued by the Strata Manager and the conduct continues, the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal may issue a penalty of up to $1,100. If the Tribunal has already fined the owner or occupier within the last 12 months for a breach of the same by-law, the penalty imposed can double to a maximum of $2,200.

Any owner who is in breach of the occupancy limits set out in the legislation is potentially liable to fines of $5,500 and $11,000.

How do I use the disability lift?

To obtain a key simply email or call the building manager.

I want to compost my foodscraps.  Is this possible at Rochford?

Rochford Apartments is currently participating in the City of Sydney Foodscraps Trial.  If you would like to participate in the trial please contact the building manager to get set up.

Rochford Apartments also has limited capacity for certain foodscraps to be recycled through worm farms.  If you would like to use the worm farms, please let the building manager know.

Which Internet Service Providers are available at Rochford?

You can choose any commercial ISP, but might like to know that the following providers have Fibre to the Basement (FTTB) at Rochford:
* TPG
* Giggacom

Can I grow fruit and vegetables at Rochford

Rochford has two rooftop gardens which include fruit trees and herb and vegetable plots.  They are managed by a keen group of resident gardeners.  If you would like to join in, just look for relevant posts on the Rochford Facebook page.

Of course if you would like to pick say a lemon, some chillies or some herbs, you are very welcome to do so, even if you are not an active gardener.  Enjoy.
